TO SEE & TO DO
In the heart of the South-West of France, at the gateway to Nérac, ancient royal city in Gascony, the Domaine du Cauze is the ideal starting point to explore this region dear to Henri IV.
Steeped in history, Nérac and its region offer nonetheless an abundant choice of leisure activities for young and old alike.
The Walibi theme park is 15 kms. away, the Albret golf-course 10 kms. In Nérac itself, there are boats to hire and cruises on the river, there is le petit train touristique, the acrobatic forest trail Cap Cauderoue, the vineyards of the Château du Frandat, the chocolate factory La Cigale and, for lovers of fishing and its traditions, la Maison de la Pêche. At Montesquieu (15 kms.), you will find the Regional Botanic Consevatory of Aquitaine, in the bastide town of Vianne (6 kms.) the glass-blower, Joel Gallo, and in Mézin (12 kms.) the Cork Museum.
There are hundreds of kilometers of hiking and biking trails, all well sign-posted and well maintained. Nérac is just a few cable-lengthjs from the "green track", the old towing lane along the Canal du Garonne which allows you to cross the Lot-et-Garonne on foot or by bicycle, without meeting any car traffic.
Several horse-riding clubs are active in the region, with horse-riding trips across the forest particularly appreciated. Fishing and canoing/kayaking are other activites found in the region, as well as tennis and pétanque.....
